Industry\u2019s First Biometric Component Certification Program<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n
Earlier today we announced the industry\u2019s first biometric certification program. The new Biometric Component Certification Program<\/a><\/u> utilizes independent labs to certify that biometric subcomponents meet globally recognized performance standards for reliable identification and are fit for commercial use.<\/p>\n\n\n\n We anticipate that achieving certification will save vendors a substantial amount of time and money in bringing new biometric systems to market, and will give their customers confidence in the reliability of these solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Read the full news announcement about the Biometric Component Certification Program at https:\/\/fidoalliance.org\/fido-alliance-launches-biometrics-certification-program\/<\/a><\/u> and find out what you need to get started at https:\/\/fidoalliance.org\/biometric-component-certification-program<\/a><\/u>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Introducing FIDO Certified L3 and L3+ Authenticators<\/b><\/p>\n\n\n\n Last March, we announced the Authenticator Certification Program<\/a><\/u>, which introduces security requirements for authenticators going through FIDO Certification, with two levels: Level 1 (L1) Authenticator and FIDO Certified Level 2 (L2) Authenticator. Today we are expanding the program by launching Level 3 (L3) and Level 3+ (L3+) testing and certification.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Authenticator Certification L3<\/a><\/u> evaluates FIDO Authenticator protection against enhanced-basic effort software and hardware attacks. Authenticator Certification L3+<\/a><\/u> evaluates FIDO Authenticator protection against moderate or high-effort software and hardware attacks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n To achieve L3 and L3+ certification, authenticators that include biometrics must also pass the Biometric Component Certification Program. Newly certified companies include Aware, Inc.<\/a><\/span> and Transmit Security<\/a><\/span>.
